Blonding
BALAYAGE
(pronounced BAH-LEE-AHGE or BAH-LAY-AHGE)
Also called hair painting, in this technique the color is applied freehand to the surface of hair. The color is “hand swept” by the colorist using a special lightener which differs from traditional highlights that are applied in foils. Balayage creates a soft, diffused highlight. The gradual color shift is enhanced through multiple appointments.
FOILAYAGE
Using the balayage technique in foils we are able to create more dramatic color changes or more high contrast blonding effects.
PINTURA
Similar to balayage, but for curly-haired ladies. This technique also paints color directly to the strands in specific patterns (depending on the desired effect).
PARTIAL HIGHLIGHTS
These highlights are placed around the face, though some stylists place the highlights on the top layers of the hair. Make sure to clarify which area the partial highlights will be applied to.
FULL HIGHLIGHTS
Like it sounds, the color is applied to every section of your head, from the nape of your neck to your hairline.
LOW LIGHTS
A technique that darkens strands of hair rather than lightening them. This technique can be used with highlighting to create depth and dimension or can be a stand alone service to darken the overall look.
Color Correction
Color Correction comes in many forms. It can be your first visit when you are changing from one stylist to another, or when you want to make a significant change in your current hair color. If you are interested in scheduling a color appointment with us, please make sure to let us know in the booking notes what your current color is as well as your color story goal. Color Correction can take time and may require several appointments, which your hair stylist will go over with you during your consultation. If you are looking for a big change, dark to light for example, we suggest scheduling a brief consultation to meet with your stylist prior to the color appointment to discuss expectations and budget for your first color appointment and color story journey.
